Weekend Recap

You'll be happy to know that I finished MOST of that list I created on Friday. Run wasn't amazing-- didn't have time to finish the full hour, but I got some good cardio in and ran along the Pathfinder-beautiful!!! Oh I also saw a 'dillo! An armadillo that is!

Afterward, I met up with friends at a local restaurant and had a bud light and sweet potato fries! I enjoyed everyone's company. Laid back casual fridays. :)

Afterwards, I met Aaron in Tulsa for dinner (Qdoba, can't seem to get enough of that place lately). We didn't do anything to exciting. Saturday we woke up early and ate at The Diner again. So delicious. I proceeded to nap all day while Aaron watched Le Football (Soccer). Saturday night we met up with Dave and Kristy to play catch phrase and other games. So much fun! I was worn out.

Sunday we clean clean cleaned Aaron's apartment--living with two cats can be such a mess! But we love the furballs! Abby is the tabby (oldest by a year) and Freckle is the calico. Them looking out Aaron's window:

That night Aaron and I made whole wheat spaghetti with meatballs and carrots. Yum! We also began the journey of "Lost." Both of us hated the idea of getting suckered into this high-hype tv series, but of course we finally capitulated. We watched three episodes and are waiting when we both can watch more together. It's piqued my curiosity. :)

Monday was movie night at Shaler's. We watched Unstoppable. Terrible movie + lots of friends= hilarious commentary on the movie. Yesterday, a friend (Kathleen) flew in from Houston for the week and so we had to meet up. Dana, another friend from work, knows Kathleen as well so we all had dinner. We shared stories, dessert, and a lot of laughs- mostly about awkward conversations people should not have in public. Haha. Good times though. Dana departed to see her husband (who she's been with 6 years to the day!) and Kathleen and I went to the mall. I bought SO many items, appropriate for work, from the Gap Outlet! And for a good price too!!! Score!

All of the above mentioned activities have really been a help in releasing some stress from work. Training someone to do your old job while trying to learn your new job at the same time is a big task! It's a juggling act. It will get better with time though and I really think I'm going to like my new job! I liked my old one as well and was very fortunate to work for so many respectable and fun women (my supervisors, director, and manager were all women!).

So, speaking of work.. I was going to write up my New Year's Resolution Review but the boyfriend and I haven't talked and it's getting late. Need more sleep for a long day of work tomorrow! I should sleep well with this thunderstorm here! I love them! Does anyone else?

Hurray for getting over the Wednesday hump! Have a good week!

I'm Lovin' It

Good afternoon friends! I know I just posted yesterday, but I actually have time again today (plus I'm procrastinating).

Today, I slept in til 10am! It felt SO good. I lazed around the house and got a few things done. I went to Autumn Sun Productions (local yoga venue) at noon and just got home from picking up some Mickey D's.

Now, I am not like all the other food bloggers out there who snap a picture of everything they eat. That cheeseburger most definitely was in my stomach before anyone could have whipped out a phone/camera, haha. But don't get me wrong, I love reading Caitlin and Meghan's blogs. As well as my friend, Meredith's. I love seeing what they eat and trying their recipes. Believe me, I am just not that dedicated. :)

Now I have the rest of the weekend to do what I want. And what needs to be done... whaa. whaaa... Lol
So here's my laundry list:

-Laundry (whites, colors)
-CLEAN CLOSET (I have been putting this off for months)
-Clean Bathroom
-Clean out Refrigerator
-Sweep the ENTIRE house (what a tremendous task)
-Vacuum car
-Wash car
-Clean Bedroom
-Take out trash

Ok, so after seeing the list it doesn't look so bad, but I am the queen of procrastination. I really want to get this done before the real world's weekend starts (Friday at 5pm). I also have a one hour run to complete today!!! I'm keeping my eye on the prize: shopping later tonight. :D

In honor of eating McDonald's today- I think I should list everything I'm currently lovin'.

-It's 70 degrees in the middle of February!
-I am excited about training for my new job next week!
-Our bonus was announced today and exceeded their 7.5% target!
-I have a wonderful family, close caring friends, and the best boyfriend!
-I will be receiving an awesome tax return next week! (That will go to my school loans.)
-I'm going to Hawaii in April!

I am lovin' (thankful for) many other things in my life, those are just the highlights. Have a wonderful weekend!

PS. Look forward to a review on "Water for Elephants" and an update on my New Year's Resolutions! I plan to have a review every two months! <3

Productive Mondays!

Hello blog world! So, the new year's resolutions have been coming along nicely. I haven't drank ANY soda since 2010! Wooo it's been 10 days! I've almost completely blown the not eating out resolution, but have still been able to eat healthy despite eating out. IE: Wendy's spicy chicken caesar salad, smaller portions, etc. Yay! I'm off to a good start on my running and yoga. Although I haven't been running as fast as I would like, I know I shouldn't be disappointed bc it will take some time.

On a completely different note! I had a fabulous weekend with some girlfriends of mine! Lynndi and Wazhma came up to see me Friday night and stayed until Saturday evening. We ate out, watched "V" (a guilty pleasure tv show that Lynndi and I watch to make fun of the dialog... mostly.. We kind of got sucked in tho, haha), went to Tulsa (all plans epicly failed by the way). But we still had a good time hanging out. When people come to see me it makes me feel SO special. :) Hehe.

My weekend wasn't completely devoid of the boyfriend. I watched him and his dad wall mount his tv. It was crooked at first! I hated to tell them! LOL. Then Sunday after Yoga for Athletes, I went over to Aaron's to run and eat and hang out. The run also became a failure with the apartment's workout room being 85 degrees. I got 25 minutes into my 40 min run and had to stop (I had already taken several breaks). BUT! I finished the 40 min pace run today! So, I get to rest tomorrow which works out better bc I'll be attending a COOKING class with Aaron (bday present for him). We also worked in a little Mario Kart! I'm pretty competitive but still had fun. I at least won ONE game! :D

Work was good today! It snowed ALL day! Other than that, I'm at home in my pajamas, about to read and hit the sack. Here's a not so great picture of my town today! Good night!

New Year, New Beginnings

It's 2011 and I'm finally starting my own blog! While I would like to have a more creative blog title, creativity is not in my blood. Lol, so I'll start small.
I'm twenty-three years old, live in a small town, work for a corporation in the oil and gas industry, and just graduated from college last year. I feel I have grown so much in the past few months of my life (living on my own, having a REAL job, paying for grownup things like car insurance and tires), but I know I have a lot more growing to do. A few of my interests are eating, reading, traveling, and being active.
With that said, I hope you enjoy "my corner" of the blog world by reading interesting posts about my above mentioned hobbies and interests. Since it's a new year, I thought I also might add my New Year's Resolutions.

Personal:
-Create a budget and stick to it (I tend to live a freestyle life and really need to start saving more)
-Read one book per month (this shouldn't be hard; I've actually started reading for pleasure again since I've been out of college)
-Travel more! (on a budget of course)
-Become involved in some volunteer work
-Get to work ON TIME!!

Faith:
-Find a church home (this has been hard since I've moved 3 hours away from my church that I grew up in, but I am determined to find a good fit for both my boyfriend, Aaron, and myself)
-Read the Bible every day
-Attend church every Sunday

Health:
-I'm allowing myself to eat out (fast food or sit down) twice a week only
-Eating healthfully (more whole foods)
-Giving up soda (I've done this before and have been fine, I don't know why I always go back to it, hehe)
-Practice Yoga twice a week
-Run/Exercise 4 times a week
-Run 2 5k's, 1 15k, and a half marathon
-Floss at least once a day

As you can see, I have a lot of health goals. I think it is extremely important to eat right and stay fit. God gave us our bodies to take care of them and nourish them. Other focuses will be maintaining healthy relationships with my new friends, old friends, family, and boyfriend. These resolutions are guidelines of how I want to live my life. If I slip up, there's always tomorrow to try again. I believe if you keep trying, you will eventually succeed. Wish me luck in the new year! Welcome 2011!
